History

The Gust used to make very little income. The fact that the bartender drank on the job and the waitress kept breaking dishes did not help. They hit a low point when they hired a pianist who can't play piano. Jake RPer space frequently called this the "worst saloon ever."

In the 2020 earthquake, the bar was badly damaged and had to go under a major renovation. Much of the look was kept the same -- stronger materials were used this time. Recovering alcoholic Jake used the opportunity to turn the bar into a bar & grill, focusing more on the food than the liquor. He also stopped bartending, opting to be just the manager instead. The change was successful, and the place has been doing steady business ever since.

In 2023, Jake left the Gust under the care of his trusty bartender Kate and left to try his hand at being a genuine cowboy in Dubois, Wyoming. He is still the owner.

Back Room

The back is about the size of a living room, but most of the space is occupied by boxes upon boxes of liquor bottles, both filled and empty. There's a makeshift table in the middle made up of wooden crates stacked on top of one another with a table cloth over it. The only seats available are also upside-down wooden crates. The place is lit up by some humming fluorescent lights in the ceiling. On the "table" are various empty liquor bottles, a mini cactus, and some playing cards.

Backstage

It's more of a fire exit hallway than a room, really, and it's against building regulations to keep anything here... but regardless, there's a nondescript sofa with a surprisingly clean-looking sheet and pillow over it. It's likely kept neat by Maggey, and it gives the completely uninviting-looking place a more homey feel. The crate being used as a makeshift bedside table is a nice touch. The grey floor and white walls are lit by fluorescent lights.
